More About Me

Merry Meet. I'm Cosette, a 30-year-old Wiccan gal living in Miami. I was born in Cuba and came to the U.S. in 1980 on the Mariel boatlift.

I was raised in a loosely Catholic home. I discovered the old gods reading classical mythology when I was a kid, but I didn't find a name for what I believed until high school and it wasn't until college that I really developed as a Pagan. Currently I am in a coven and a First Degree initiate Georgian Wiccan. Electic Pagan and Traditional Wiccan, yes. That means that I have a certain foundation and practice an eclectic style that draws from different sources and fountains of inspiration. I'm also a member of the Everglades Moon Local Council of the Covenant of the Goddess.

My education is in English and Women's Studies and my professional background is in journalism. I'm not really cut out for the corporate world though so I've given that up. Now I have a website, Pandora's Bazaar, and occasionally I pursue freelance writing jobs. Enjoyable as they are, these are not exactly lucrative so I keep a day job as an office manager in a small, family owned business.

I have a lot of interests, but I spend most of my time pursuing my Craft -- working on my Book of Shadows, the website, ritual work, etc. I also read avidly. I prefer classic literature to contemporary fiction and I don't really care for sci-fi, fantasy, horror or romance, but I'll read almost anything else -- history, science, parenting, religion, home decorating, etc. I really like movies and have a subscription to Netflix. Among my favorites are The Lord of the Rings, Pleasantville, and Secretary. I also like music, but I hardly ever listen to anything other than NPR on the radio so I'm always behind on music trends. My television set is almost always on, but I hardly ever pay attention to it. I just like the white noise. I don't really watch anything on a regular basis, but I do enjoy Law & Order and Anthony Bourdain's No Reservations.

I live at home with my mother, my father lives next door, my sister lives upstairs with her husband and three kids, and we all get along pretty well. What else? I have a cat named Misu. I'm a Sagittarius with a Cancer moon and my coven voted to make Scorpio my rising sign. I prefer Coke over Pepsi, drink coffee regularly, and don't generally like tea. I don't smoke or do drugs; I don't drink a lot and I try not to swear too much. I sing in the car, but never in the shower. My ears are the only things pierced (so far) and I don't have any tattoos. I love to travel and hope to see more of the world.
